AHAHAHAHAHA!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: This is amazing!
AHAHAHAHAHA!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: This is amazing!
I don't really wear flip flops all that much. I have nothing against them but I prefer to wear funky flat sandals instead of basic flip flops. But most of my sandals have buckles and crap that are annoying so on weekends (or mornings when I take the dog out) I'd prefer just a simple pair of black flip flops.
But I find most pairs very uncomfortable. The ubiquitous Old Navy flip flops are cheap, for sure, but the rubber top rubs my feet and gives me blisters, and they fall apart pretty quickly. I know that everyone seems to love Havaianas, but are they comfortable? And do they last? $24 isn't a lot of money but I can't justify spending that much on flip flops unless they're VERY comfortable and will last for longer than one summer.
So, if anyone has any flip flop recommendations, pass 'em along, please. :bossy: Kthanxbye.
I have a camel-colored handbag that has gotten quite dingy on the back. There is also a small coffee stain (or something) on one of the corners.
Even though they're barely noticeable, it's killing me! But I don't know the best way to get it cleaned. Should I buy a bottle of some type of leather cleaner? Or are there professional leather cleaners out there? :? I am totally clueless.
Here is why I am already obsessed with this movie, called "Away We Go"
1. I know a lot of people would disagree, but I think John Krasinski is HOT all scruffy and bearded like that. Yowza.
2. The screenplay was written by a married couple who happen to be two of my favorite writers: Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida.
3. There's an Alexi Murdoch song in the trailer!
4. It looks all quirky and cute, right up my alley.
5. There are so many good people in this besides JKras and Maya Rudolph: Jeff Daniels, Catherine O'Hara, Allison Janney, Jim Gaffigan, Maggie Gyllenhaal, etc. What a great cast!
6. It was directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road)
If the player below isn't working, watch the trailer here.
I can't help but like Ryan Seacrest, even though he is a giant douche. I also really like Lily Allen even though she is a crazy bitch. I kind of like the Olsen twins even though they are creepy.
I'm sure I'll think of more as we discuss...
First, the Best
Marisa Tomei - This is just fabulous! The dove grey color, the intricate pleats, and the stunning silhouette... I'm gushing.
Runner Up, Best All-Around:
Natalie Portman - I love the soft lilac, the simple draped shape, the simple hair, and the fact that she didn't wear a necklace. Perfection.
Taraji P. Henson looks flawless in her soft ivory dress and fabulous diamond necklace.
What an amazing collar necklace on Amy Adams. It frames her face beautifully.
Consistently Improving Award:
Just a few months ago, Evan Rachel Wood was dressing like her ex Marilyn's ex Dita. But now she's really come into her own. I don't love this look as much as I loved her Golden Globes gown, but she still looks amazing.
Best Shimmer Award:
Anne Hathaway knows that when your gown is shimmery, it's best to keep a simple silhouette. She is absolutely glowing.
Best Black Award:
Diane Lane isn't blowing me away, but she still looks lovely in basic black.
Best Shape Award:
Anyone who is not a 6 foot Glamazon would be overwhelmed by this dress, but Heidi Klum looks amazing in it.
Took me a while, but now I dig it Award:
At first, I wasn't sure about Freida Pinto's dress. I liked the color but wasn't sure about the one sleeve. But it grew on me when I realized that it reminded me of an Indian sari.
Best Texture Award:
If Maria Monounos' gown was pink, I would think it was too frou-frou. But because it was a cool steel grey, I thought it was fabulous!
Best Princess Gown:
Sarah Jessica Parker looks very Carrie Bradshaw.
Best Meryl Award:
Meryl Streep is hit or miss on the red carpet, but she nailed it this time.
Now, the Worst
Beyonce needs to stop letting her mother dress her. This is beyond tacky. My eyes hurt from looking at her. Barf.
Worst Shimmer Award, Runner Up Worst All-Around:
Miley Cyrus looks like a little girl playing dress-up. She should be embarrassed.
Most Disappointing Award:
I want SO badly to like Kate Winslet's look, but I just can't. The tulle/lace/whatever thing ruins the whole dress, and I'm really not a fan of the hair.
Worst Shape Award:
What the crap is hanging off of Jessica Biel's boob? To quote Aud, she looks like she's wearing a towel.
Least Effort Awards:
Bridget Fonda and Phoebe Cates look like they picked this up at Dress Barn about 30 minutes before she showed up.
David's Bridal Reject Award:
First of all, mermaid dresses are flattering on NOBODY, not even Melissa George. Secondly, the stark white of the dress make it look like it was bought from the discount rack of a bridal shop. No good.
Much Too Much Award:
I know she's a screen legend, but Sophia Loren needs to learn that the extreme fashion of her heyday is dated and tacky.
You Are Not A Statuette Award:
Viola Davis' hair and makeup are lovely, but her dress is a little too much like an Oscar Statuette for my liking.
Worst Runway Adaptation Award:
Vanessa Hudgens' dress is just okay, and despite the fact that I loathe mermaid dresses, I normally wouldn't have put her on the worst list. But it is a bastardization of one of my favorite dresses from the Marchesa spring 2009 line.
And the Rest
Lovely from the Neck Up Award:
I love Amanda Seyfried's hair, makeup and necklace, and the color of her dress is lovely, but it's just not flattering.
Lovely from the Neck Down Award:
Lisa Rinna's gown is a beautiful color and very flattering, but her scary lips and stupid hairdo just ruin it.
Black AGAIN? Award:
I would probably die of shock if Angelina Jolie wore something besides black or grey. But the bright green earrings save her from the worst dressed award.
At Least it's not Black Award:
Jennifer Aniston wears black and earth tones almost exclusively. So, at least this isn't black, and at least it's got some bling. Her hair looks nice but it's a bit casual for the Oscars.
Funny Ladies in Gold Award:
Tina Fey and Leslie Mann are right on trend in sleek metallic dresses. It's nice to see beautiful, funny women in the spotlight.
We've Seen It All Before Award:
Penelope Cruz looks nice, but this looks just like the gown she wore to the Oscars two years ago.
Melissa Leo managed to match her gown with her hair.
Okay, her gown is kind of boring, but does Robin Write Penn EVER age?
I ordered a mini-travel kit from BB&B, since I've been traveling so much. It arrived today.
This was the size of the box. It was filled with various packing materials. Like that little kit couldn't have been sent in a padded envelope? :oy:
I miss the days when Boogie and I used to take turns recapping the awards shows. Actually, I miss Boogie, period, but that's a whole 'nuther story.
Anyway, Boog has recapped the SAG awards on her blog but I haven't looked at them yet as I wanted to recap them myself and didn't want her choices to affect mine.
So here are my Best and Worst.
Best All Around - Evan Rachel Wood
I am incredibly impressed by EVR, who, up until a few months ago, was hell-bent on channeling her ex Marilyn Manson's other ex, Dita Von Teese. But now she's come into her own and I think everything about this look - the silhouette, the color, and hair and makeup - is amazing. I'm almost gushing.
Best Color Award - Kate Winslet
I think that this dress was fairly controversial, but I love it. The simple silhouette hugs her curves beautifully but the electric blue color is what is really outstanding.
Long Time No See Award - Claire Danes
Why is Claire Danes even here? Has she done ANY work in the past few years? It doesn't matter, because she looks fabulous!
Best Asymmetrical Award - Christina Applegate
I love everything about this. She is also a runner up for best color. Also, I just love her and it makes me smile to see her out and looking beautiful after the shitty year she had in 2008.
Best Black Award - January Jones
January looks anything but basic with the FIERCE embellishments on her otherwise simple black dress.
Best White Award - Anne Hathaway
Rachel Zoe has really done Anne a lot of good. I still shudder when I think of her black/white bow dress fiasco from a few years back. Anne looks modern and fresh in white here.
Best Newcomer Award - Freida Pinto
I'm smitten with Slumdog star Freida Pinto's floaty periwinkle gown. I think she may be a red carpet force to be reckoned with.
Best Blouson Award - Jennifer Morrison
I like how this dress looks almost like a top with a skirt, instead of a full gown. It's still formal and elegant and gorgeous.
Best Retro Award - Olivia Wilde
I'm totally digging on Olivia's slinky deco dress and bombshell waves.
Cleans Up Real Good Award (Part I) - Jennifer Carpenter
I'm only used to seeing Jennifer as a foul-mouthed tomboy on Dexter, so it's a pleasant surprise to see how nice she looks on the red carpet.
Cleans Up Real Good Award (Part II) - Angela Kinsey
Honestly, I am always disarmed when I see Angela smile, since she never, ever does on the Office. So for the smile alone, she deserves the award. But she looks amazing in her slinky black dress as well. And there are no cats on it!
Best Curves Award - Christina Hendricks
Fabulous. Christina is not a size 2, yet she oozes sexuality and confidence. Love her!
Most Consistent Award - Laura Linney
Laura's red carpet looks never make my jaw drop, but she always looks classy and beautiful.
Worst All Around - Nicolette Sheridan
This looks like something that Mrs. Roper would wear on a cruise ship, not something that a cougar should wear on the red carpet. Whippy no like. Bad medicine.
Gorgeous From the Neck Up Award - America Ferrera
Her hair and makeup are flawless but the gown is a hot mess. The color washes her out, the cut isn't flattering, and whatever that black fabric thinks it's doing, but it's doing it wrong.
Worst Hair, Everything Else Kind of Sucks Too Award - Eva Longoria
The only thing I like about this look is the coral color. I want to like the drapiness of the dress but it's just not flattering on her. The jeweled neckline would work if the nude-colored mesh of the dress wasn't next to it. And the hair is just awful. Eva is a young woman, why does she have a matronly 'do? No good.
Worst Blouson Award - Angelina Jolie
Maybe it's because she's widely considered to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet, and thus in her mind it doesn't matter what she wears, but Angie Jo doesn't even try anymore. I would really like this dress if the skirt was above the knee, but it seems much too casual and slouchy for a red carpet. I will say that I like the fact that she went with a sleeved dress, as that's pretty rare on the carpet.
Most Blah Award - Penelope Cruz
Yawn. Penelope looks okay, but the hair and the dress are just way too boring for such an event.
Worst Color Award - Marisa Tomei
I usually love yellow on the red carpet but this yellow just washes Marisa out. I'm also not crazy about that flower thing on her shoulder.
Almost, but Not Quite Award - Amy Adams
The color of Amy's gown is just perfect with her milky skin and red hair. But that gathered thingy on the side is just too distracting.
Worst White Award - Teri Hatcher
There is just too much going on here. I would like this dress on someone who can pull of something so dramatic, like Diane Kruger, maybe, or even Cameron Diaz. But this doesn't work on Teri.
Worst Red Award - Paula Abdul
You can always count on Paula to look ridiculous. I think I'd almost be disappointed if she showed up somewhere looking good. What would I talk about?
The I Don't Get It Award - Andrea Bowen
I just don't get it. And I don't like it.
Worst Makeup Award - Mindy Kaling
Oh, Mindy, it kills me to speak ill of you, but what the hell is that around your eyes?
